Periodontics

If you have ever had badly swollen gums or a “toothache” that caused noticeable swelling on the outside of your face, chances are you needed periodontic treatment. Periodontics is a dentistry specialty involving the living tissue of a tooth’s roots. If contacted early enough, we can often help prevent tooth loss and promote tooth health and restoration through periodontics.

At Shattuck Dentistry & Braces, we serve our patients on a variety of Periodontic issues, including everything from simple gingivitis to dental implants. Periodontics is the study of inflammatory diseases that affect the gums and other supporting structures around the teeth. Since the gums help to protect the thousands of tiny fibers that hold the tooth to the jaw, good gum health is the first line of defense for healthy teeth.
